General rules for evaluating poker hands ranking

Individual card ranking:  A (high), K, Q, J, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, A (low).

Suits have no value for card ranking

Card hands ranking is determined always by five cards. Exceptions of course are four-card or three-card poker.
If you play a game, where more than five cards are available to each player, the hands are ranked by five-card subsets of the players. The remainig cards have no influence on the ranking.

Poker hands are ranked first by category, then by the ranking of the individual cards.
The smallest Three of a kind for example defeats all hands with Two pair. Only between two hands in the same category are card ranks used to break ties. The highest single card in each flush or straight is used to break ties. Within two Two pair hands, the higher pairs are first compared. Should they tie, you have to compare the secondary pairs,  finally the kicker.
